Alternative asset management and structured credit
Apollo Global Management / Redding Ridge
Founded in 1990, Apollo Global Management is an alternative asset manager with credit, equity and real-assets strategies alongside retirement solutions. Its credit business spans corporate lending and asset-backed finance, including direct lending, syndicated loans, securitized products and warehouse financing.
Apollo merged with retirement-services company Athene in 2022, bringing asset management and retirement services under one parent. Apollo sources long-duration investments for retirement-services liabilities, while Athene provides retirement income products to individuals and corporations. Apollo’s retirement platform also serves institutions, employers and defined contribution plans.
Redding Ridge Asset Management is an independently managed Apollo affiliate specializing in structured credit. Apollo established and seeded it in 2016 in response to risk-retention regulations. Its largest business manages collateralized loan obligations (CLOs) and related warehouse facilities in the U.S. and Europe. CLOs pool loans and issue securities backed by their payments; as collateral manager, Redding Ridge selects and manages the underlying loan portfolios and makes decisions about when to assemble them and issue deals.
Redding Ridge holds majority equity investments in the CLOs it manages and serves as the risk-retention holder in its European CLOs. Risk retention means keeping an investment exposed to the CLO’s performance, so the holder bears some of the credit risk alongside other investors.
Redding Ridge’s partnership business takes minority economic interests in other credit managers and offers balance-sheet and advisory support; arrangements can include equity stakes, revenue sharing and working-capital loans. Its structuring and advisory team also advises issuers on structuring and ratings across asset classes. Apollo provides Redding Ridge with services including credit research and operational support.
Joe Moroney is Redding Ridge’s CEO. In May 2025, the firm acquired Irradiant Partners, whose businesses included CLO management; Irradiant’s former co-CEO John Eanes is now Redding Ridge’s U.S. chief investment officer. Redding Ridge reported $43.9 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026.
