AI orchestration and enterprise AI platforms
deepset builds tools for developers and enterprises to create AI agents and applications using their own data. Its Haystack open-source Python framework connects retrieval, models, memory, and tools in modular pipelines for search, question answering, and retrieval-augmented generation. Haystack Enterprise Platform, renamed from the deepset AI platform in 2025, adds visual development, evaluation, access controls, observability, and cloud or self-hosted deployment. Enterprise support and engineering services help teams design and deploy these systems.
Founded in 2018 by Milos Rusic, Malte Pietsch, and Timo Möller, deepset is led by CEO Rusic, with Pietsch serving as CTO. Haystack’s architecture lets teams replace models and other components independently while retaining their workflows. Its engineering work also includes a fine-tuned DeBERTa model for checking generated sentences against source documents, distinguishing supported claims from unsupported or contradictory ones.
In its product materials available in 2026, the company reported that Bosch’s assistant served 600+ consultants across 120+ plants, while the European Commission’s AI@EC supported 68 builders across 29 departments, with 316 pipelines in staging or production. A $30 million funding round led by Balderton in 2023 brought deepset’s total funding to $46 million.
