Data integration
Fivetran
Fivetran builds automated data pipelines that move information from sources such as software applications and databases into destinations for analytics and other workloads. Its founders, George Fraser and Taylor Brown, started the company in 2012; an early connector built for their original analytics product led them to focus on data movement. Fivetran’s account of its history traces that shift to 2014.
A central challenge in analytics is keeping data from many operational systems available in a consistent destination. Fivetran’s connectors and managed pipelines aim to take care of the repetitive extraction and loading work, leaving teams to use and transform the data. Fivetran’s data integration guide explains the connector model.
In June 2026, Fivetran announced that it had completed its merger with dbt Labs, initially operating as Fivetran + dbt Labs. Fraser remained CEO of the combined company. He is an AI Engineer Code 2026 speaker.
