JP Morgan Chase

JPMorganChase provides banking, lending, payments and investment services. Chase, its U.S. consumer and commercial banking business, offers personal banking, credit cards, mortgages, auto financing, investment advice, small business loans and payment processing. Consumers and businesses can use these services to manage money, finance purchases and accept payments, with access through branches, ATMs, mobile, online and telephone banking.

The modern company formed through the 2000 merger of Chase Manhattan and J.P. Morgan & Co. Its earliest predecessor, the Manhattan Company, was founded in 1799 with Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr instrumental in its establishment. Its technical work now includes quantum computing research: in 2025, JPMorganChase researchers and collaborators demonstrated a protocol for certified randomness, using quantum circuits and mathematical verification to check that outputs contained genuine randomness. This was a research demonstration with potential cryptographic applications.

Its business combines digital consumer banking with asset and wealth management. At the end of June 2026, the company reported 63.746 million active mobile customers in Consumer & Community Banking and $5.140 trillion in assets under management in Asset & Wealth Management. Those managed investments span equities, fixed income, liquidity, multi-asset portfolios and alternatives.
