Banking and financial services
Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo provides banking, lending, investing and wealth management services to individuals and businesses. Its consumer offerings include checking and savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages, personal loans and vehicle financing. It also offers business banking, commercial banking, and corporate and investment banking, with online and mobile tools for managing accounts and payments.
Founded in 1852 by Henry Wells and William Fargo, the company began as a bank and express business. Its network moved gold and silver, paper checks and payments by telegraph, initially connecting gold rush California with East Coast markets. Norwest’s acquisition of Wells Fargo in 1998 extended the bank across 21 states and expanded its home and consumer lending businesses.
Fargo, its virtual assistant in the Wells Fargo Mobile smartphone app, helps customers with consumer accounts handle everyday banking through voice or text. Customers can find bills, transfer funds, review spending by category or merchant, and track subscriptions across their Wells Fargo accounts. Fargo also provides a 30-day balance forecast based on recurring transactions, helping customers see how expected activity could affect their balances.
Vantage serves business treasury workflows, giving clients web and mobile access to account balances, payment approvals, wire transfers and reporting. Its interface adapts to clients’ roles and business needs, including their industry, size and operational context. Wells Fargo lists APIs, AI and machine learning among the technologies used in the platform. Vantage is replacing the bank’s earlier CEO treasury management platform.
