  • Itô Markets ↗

Soumah is identified as the founder of this Alliance-backed company building market infrastructure for GPU compute. Affaan Mustafa’s retained project page identifies Mustafa as a co-founder and describes Itô as acquired by Jump Trading. Mustafa’s demonstration shows immediate A100 procurement and constraint-based H200 capacity matching with human approval of commercial commitments; it does not establish Soumah’s authorship of individual software components. Techne’s September 28–October 8, 2026 roster lists Soumah as Founder, Itô Markets, while Mustafa’s page retained October 30, 2026 names him as a Jump compute-desk co-lead. The roster biography’s publication date and the acquisition and role-transition effective dates are unknown.

  • RISO Data and Gervais ↗

Soumah co-founded RISO Data with Matteo Perona. The award announcement identifies both founders and reports their 2025 Triton Innovation Challenge early-stage-track win and $2,500 in non-dilutive funding. RISO describes its Gervais product as an AI farming assistant that exchanges agronomic guidance for cocoa and cashew production observations, photographs, pod counts, disease information, and soil data. Supplier-facing uses include production forecasting, storage and processing-capacity planning, and purchasing decisions. These are company-described mechanisms, not independently verified performance outcomes or evidence of Soumah’s sole technical authorship.

  • COMPASS Institution ↗

The TEDxSanDiego organizer biography identifies Soumah as the founder of COMPASS Institution, a nonprofit addressing global challenges such as food insecurity through data-driven solutions. The retained evidence supplies no dedicated COMPASS website or repository.

  • Jump Trading dedicated compute desk ↗

Mustafa’s first-person project page explicitly names Alejandro Soumah Fernandez as his co-lead of Jump Trading’s dedicated compute desk. This establishes an attributed organizational leadership role, not ownership of Jump Trading or authorship of all desk technology. The retained page establishes neither the role’s start date nor the acquisition’s effective date. Earlier quantitative research and credit-trading employment at Goldman Sachs is separately supported by Techne’s biography, not evidence of an authored AI project.

  • RISO Data research methodology ↗

An organizational methodology page associated with Soumah’s co-founded company, not a personally bylined publication. It describes adaptive farmer conversations, computer-vision analysis of crop photographs, environmental enrichment and cross-validation, consent, farmer data rights, deletion requests, and aggregated anonymized sharing. Its accuracy figures and claims of journal publication are not independently substantiated by the retained evidence.

On this page

Alejandro Soumah Fernandez co-leads Jump Trading’s dedicated compute desk alongside Affaan Mustafa. He co-founded Itô Markets, which Jump acquired, and RISO Data, applying software and quantitative methods to two different markets: GPU capacity and agricultural production data.

Quantitative finance and agricultural data

Soumah studied mathematics and computer science at the University of California, San Diego, and worked in quantitative research and credit trading at Goldman Sachs. He also founded COMPASS Institution, a nonprofit addressing problems such as food insecurity through data-driven approaches.

He co-founded RISO Data with Matteo Perona to address information gaps in agricultural supply chains. In 2025, they won the early-stage track of UC San Diego’s Triton Innovation Challenge, receiving $2,500 in non-dilutive funding.

RISO’s central product, Gervais, combines farming assistance with production-data collection for cocoa and cashew markets. Farmers ask questions about their crops and contribute observations and photographs; the system provides agronomic guidance while gathering information about pod counts, disease, and growing conditions. RISO uses this farm-level information to help suppliers and traders forecast production, plan storage, and make purchasing decisions. The exchange gives farmers a reason to contribute information beyond completing a survey: they receive advice relevant to their own crops.

RISO’s methodology describes how that exchange works. Questions adapt to the season, farm context, and previous responses. Computer vision analyzes submitted crop photographs, while historical patterns, satellite imagery, weather, and regional benchmarks help cross-check farmer-reported information. RISO describes a data-sharing model in which farmers retain rights to their data and can request deletion, while supply-chain partners receive aggregated, anonymized insights.

Building a market for GPU compute

At Itô Markets, an Alliance-backed company, Soumah worked on market infrastructure for GPU compute. Its procurement workflow matched buyers’ hardware and scheduling requirements with available capacity—requirements that can involve a particular GPU model, networking configuration, and delivery window rather than a generic amount of computing power.

A product demonstration by co-founder Affaan Mustafa illustrated two procurement paths: buying immediately available A100 capacity and requesting two H200 SXM GPUs with InfiniBand networking by the end of the month. For the latter, the system interpreted the requirements, searched supply, and returned an indicative match. A person still approved the commercial commitment. The demonstration distinguished finding suitable capacity from authorizing a trade.
