Founded in 2018 by Shivdev Rao, Florian Metze and Sandeep Konam, Abridge is led by Rao as CEO. Its engineering combines medically tailored speech recognition with note generation. Linked Evidence connects generated documentation to source material so clinicians can verify it. Its published evaluation framework combines medical-term accuracy measures, blinded comparisons by licensed clinicians and ongoing monitoring of edits, treating documentation quality as a continuing evaluation task rather than a single benchmark.

In June 2026, the company reported deployment at more than 300 health systems, supporting over 100 million conversations annually. Estimated annual recurring revenue reached $100 million in May 2025. Abridge raised a $300 million Series E in June 2025 at a $5.3 billion post-money valuation.
