Creative, document, and customer-experience software

Adobe

Adobe builds software for creating digital content, working with documents and delivering customer experiences. Creative Cloud provides photography, design, illustration and video applications for creative professionals; Document Cloud lets users summarize, edit, share and sign PDFs. Adobe Express supports social posts, videos and flyers, while Experience Cloud serves businesses designing and delivering customer experiences. Its customers range from students and individual creators to global enterprises. Adobe integrates AI into existing workflows, including its Firefly generative models.

Founded in 1982 by John Warnock and Chuck Geschke, Adobe helped establish desktop publishing and developed PostScript and PDF. Shantanu Narayen remains chair and CEO; in 2026, he announced plans to leave the CEO role once a successor is appointed, retaining the chairmanship. Adobe’s media-provenance research also reaches its products: content fingerprinting is deployed in Photoshop, Lightroom and Firefly, while watermarking supports its durable Content Credentials pipeline.

Adobe reported 20,000 enterprise customers worldwide on its newsroom page in 2026. Its marketing software portfolio expanded with the completed acquisition of Semrush in April 2026 for approximately $1.87 billion, primarily in cash. The brand-visibility platform adds search engine, generative engine and agentic search optimization capabilities for marketers.
