AI for immunotherapy discovery and safety assessment

Alithea Bio

Alithea Bio develops software and laboratory services for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and academic teams developing cancer immunotherapies and vaccines. Its HLA-Compass subscription platform lets researchers explore peptides presented by tumor and healthy cells, identify therapeutic targets and assess potential off-target risks. NeoZOOM profiles HLA peptides directly from tissue using mass spectrometry, while binding-prediction tools and sample-preparation kits support discovery and validation. These products help developers investigate whether a therapy’s intended target also appears in healthy tissue before clinical testing.

Founded in Freiburg in 2019, Alithea Bio’s co-founders include CEO Fanny Giannou, scientific chief Tim Fugmann and CFO Hagen Grauer. Giannou became full-time CEO in 2022, combining business development with Fugmann’s immunopeptidomics expertise. The company connects experimentally measured peptide data with computational predictions: HLA-Compass AI was trained on 1.4 million unique peptides and covers 124 HLA class I alleles, including rare variants, and peptide lengths from eight to twelve or more amino acids.

By August 2026, the company reported more than 200 completed client projects and over 23 million immunopeptidomics data points. It reported €1.6 million in 2025 revenue and approximately €580,000 from grants and smaller programs, with growth largely financed through client work. Its Berlin-Buch laboratory has operated since 2024.
