AI nutrition coaching and food tracking

Alma

Alma builds an AI nutrition coach and food tracker for iOS. Users log meals by voice, photo, text or barcode, and the app estimates calories, macros and 25+ nutrients. Its Alma Score summarizes daily diet quality, while coaching adapts to goals such as weight loss, muscle gain, plant-based eating and athletic performance. Food history informs habit guidance and weekly check-ins. Alma is wellness software, not a medical service.

Founded in 2024, Alma is led by founder and CEO Rami Alhamad, who previously built sports technology startup Push, sold it to Whoop and served as Whoop’s VP of product. Its technical approach combines multiple AI models with nutritional knowledge, including research from Harvard’s Department of Nutrition. Users can correct estimated portions and calorie counts, and inspect and edit preferences learned through conversations with the assistant.

Alma launched with monthly and annual subscriptions in 2025. By August 2026, the company reported 10,000+ members. Its scope extends beyond individual tracking: the Alma Coach Dashboard brings clients’ meals, macros and Alma Scores together for trainers and nutritionists, with automated weekly reports and Apple Health activity data. An MCP integration makes nutrition data available in Claude and other compatible tools.
