Digital payments infrastructure

Checkout.com

Checkout.com provides digital payment infrastructure for enterprise merchants to accept online payments, disburse funds and manage money across currencies and markets. Its Flow hosted checkout presents payment methods to customers, while Intelligent Acceptance optimizes transactions to help reduce unnecessary declines. Authentication, identity verification and fraud detection tools help merchants manage risk, and a single dashboard brings payment balances, monitoring and analytics together.

Founded in 2012 by current CEO Guillaume Pousaz, Checkout.com built its own integrated payment stack. Its engineering approach combines machine learning with knowledge of individual issuing banks, markets and payment networks. Payment optimizations run as separate experiments with control groups and success criteria. AI agents propose further experiments with performance and fraud metrics; payment experts review and approve those proposals before experiments proceed through statistical gates.

The company reported processing over $300 billion in payment volume in 2025, returning to full-year EBITDA profitability and supporting more than 1,000 enterprise merchants globally by its February 2026 annual letter. Its 2026 acquisition of Blue EMI, with all relevant regulatory approvals obtained, added capabilities for issuing euro-backed stablecoins. Blue EMI also supplies open banking and embedded checkout services to ecommerce businesses and licensed crowdfunding platforms.
