Investment management, brokerage, and retirement services

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments provides investment management, trading, financial planning, and workplace benefits for individuals, employers, and institutions. Customers can invest through mutual funds and ETFs, plan for retirement, and receive wealth management guidance. Its FundsNetwork platform gives individual investors and financial institutions access to Fidelity and non-Fidelity funds. Employers use its retirement savings, health and welfare benefits, and stock plan services, while wealth management firms use its investment technology, custody, and clearing services.

Edward Johnson 2d founded Fidelity Management & Research in 1946 to advise the Fidelity Fund. The company remains privately held and is led by chairman and CEO Abigail P. Johnson. Its engineering contributions include MABWiser, a Python library developed by Fidelity’s Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence for prototyping multi-armed bandit algorithms. It supports contextual models, parallel training and testing, and simulation for comparing policies; integration with Mab2Rec lets developers build content- and context-aware recommendation systems.

Fidelity combines investment products with infrastructure used by other financial firms. The company reported $19.9 trillion in assets under administration and $7.8 trillion in managed assets at the end of Q2 2026. Its distribution spans digital channels, telephone support, and Investor Centers, serving customers who want financial guidance as well as those making their own investment decisions.
