Flatfile

Flatfile provides AI-assisted data preparation for enterprise services teams and systems integrators, helping users map, transform, and validate customer data before import. Its spreadsheet interface lets nontechnical users prepare data for migration. The company became Obvious in 2025; Flatfile remains its supported data-migration product, with existing implementations and contracts unchanged. The separate Obvious workspace supports research, analysis, documents, presentations, and code. Its Autobuild product lets engineering teams specify software requirements for agents to implement.

David Boskovic and Eric Crane started Flatfile after encountering customer data-import problems as product managers. Boskovic remains CEO; Obvious also identifies Jon Bell as a co-founder. Flatfile evolved from an embedded CSV importer into an API-first, event-driven platform, giving developers reusable plugins and control over validation, business logic, and collaborative workflows. Obvious extends the company's scope into coordinated agent work: its engineering approach stores initiative state in Postgres, evaluates dependencies mechanically, and uses database evidence to determine completion.

In 2025, Flatfile reported adoption by more than 3,000 teams, including ADP, Amazon, HubSpot, Toast, Sage, and BuildOps. As of August 2026, it had raised nearly $100 million in cumulative funding, with Tiger Global leading its Series B.
