Gas Town

Gas Town is an open-source workspace manager that helps software engineers coordinate multiple AI coding agents, including Claude Code, Codex and Gemini. Developers can assign tasks, track progress and route completed changes through a merge queue with verification gates. Beads records work as structured issues, while Git-backed hooks preserve state across agent restarts. Gas Town by Kilo adds managed cloud hosting and Wasteland integration, letting participants share tasks and submit completion evidence across a federated network.

Creator Steve Yegge launched Gas Town in 2026 after developing several orchestrators during 2025. Its architecture separates persistent worker identities and workflow state from temporary agent sessions, allowing replacement sessions to resume unfinished work. Related Gas City, led by CEO Chris Sells, provides a configurable engine for building software factories. By August 2026, Yegge said his own Gas Town workflow had failed and that he had abandoned reusable harness development for Wheelhouse, a private harness for his Wyvern game.

Gas Town’s public GitHub repository displayed approximately 17,800 stars and 1,600 forks in August 2026. In April, Sells reported more than 2,600 Gas Town Hall Discord members and over 500 contributors across Beads, Gas Town and Gas City combined.
