Google builds search, advertising, consumer software and cloud services. Its products include Search, YouTube, Android, Chrome and Pixel devices. Gemini provides an AI assistant for conversation, image generation and app prototyping, while Google Workspace brings Gemini into Gmail, Docs and Sheets. For enterprise customers, Google Cloud supplies computing infrastructure, platform services and applications, alongside Workspace communication and collaboration tools.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998, after developing a search engine at Stanford that used links to assess web pages’ importance. Google became part of the Alphabet structure in 2015; Sundar Pichai now leads both companies as CEO. Its research contributions include the Transformer, introduced in 2017: self-attention directly connects words across a sentence, allowing their representations to be computed in parallel rather than through sequential recurrent processing.

Google Services earns revenue primarily through advertising, with additional income from subscriptions, apps and devices; Google Cloud relies primarily on consumption fees and subscriptions for services. In Q2 2026, the company reported 950 million monthly active users for the Gemini App and nearly 90% of Fortune 100 companies using Gemini Enterprise. Google completed its acquisition of Wiz in March 2026, adding multicloud and AI-driven security capabilities to Google Cloud for $29.5 billion after purchase-price adjustments, excluding post-combination compensation.
