Gradient

Gradient built cloud infrastructure for enterprises to customize and deploy specialized language models, then became DeepSky, an AI agent for researching, planning and analyzing business problems. Its original platform supported deploying multiple models and charged for resources used. In 2023, investor Wing reported more than 20 enterprise clients and thousands of users. DeepSky shifted the product toward business users, including investors, combining multi-step research, quantitative analysis, retrieval and tool use across the web and internal systems.

The founders were Chris Chang, Mark Kim-Huang and Forrest Moret; Chang was DeepSky’s CEO at its 2025 acquisition. Gradient’s technical work included Albatross, a family of finance-focused language models. Its public demonstration adapted Llama 2 70B through finance-specific pretraining, supervised fine-tuning and direct preference optimization, targeting tasks such as mathematical reasoning and understanding tables. The model card identifies that demonstration as a legacy model with no planned continued internal development.

Airtable acquired DeepSky in 2025, retaining it as a standalone self-service product; the purchase price was undisclosed. A subsequent reorganization transferred Airtable’s Hyperagent business assets and liabilities to Hyperagent Inc. before Bending Spoons signed an agreement to buy Airtable in August 2026. That filing described Airtable’s sale as pending, not completed, and did not establish the exact legal disposition of the former Gradient entity.
