Gru.ai offers an AI personal assistant in private beta, accessed through Telegram for work and everyday tasks. Its advertised capabilities include managing calendars, sending emails, handling WeChat and Feishu messages, and searching and booking flights and hotels. For developers, Gru can review GitHub pull requests, write code, run tests and create pull requests through the same messaging interface.

Gru.ai originated within Babel, whose founder and then-CEO Hailong Zhang described it in 2024 as an agent separated from a broader project-development system to solve standalone technical problems with tested code. That engineering focus also shaped its historical Bug Fix Gru agent: the company described combining development tools, workflow improvements, multimodal support and retrieval capabilities, with evaluations to assess the effects of changes.

The present offering emphasizes managed infrastructure rather than building foundation models. Each assistant runs on a dedicated Mac, with single-tenant compute and the customer's own keys; customers can request physical delivery of the hardware. Monthly subscriptions serve occasional users through heavier workloads, while the Ultra plan adds private data connections and customized deployment. This combines a messaging interface with a dedicated computing environment for carrying out tasks.
