AI video generation and localization
HeyGen
HeyGen develops AI video creation and localization tools for creators, educators, and businesses producing marketing, training, and sales content. Its Avatar V model generates digital presenters from a short recording, while Video Agent turns prompts into videos and AI Studio provides script-based editing and team collaboration. Video Translation combines voice cloning and lip synchronization across more than 175 languages and dialects, helping users adapt existing footage without recording it again. Developer APIs expose video generation, translation, and lip synchronization for integration into other products.
Joshua Xu, HeyGen’s CEO, and Wayne Liang founded the company in 2020 as Surreal; it adopted the HeyGen name in 2023. Its engineering work extends beyond avatar models to HyperFrames, a framework that lets AI agents compose videos using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. HyperFrames shares a seek-driven runtime between preview and rendering, capturing individual frames instead of letting animations play freely. This approach gives agents familiar web authoring tools while controlling timing for video output.
In June 2026, HeyGen reported exceeding $200 million ARR, alongside more than 30 million users across 196 countries and over 118 million videos created. Its earlier financing included a $60 million Series A led by Benchmark in 2024 at a $500 million valuation.
