In The Pocket is a European digital product studio that builds software and platforms for organizations, combining digital strategy with product design and engineering. These projects connect its early focus on useful mobile applications with software people use to pay, read and identify themselves online. In The Pocket established dedicated machine-learning and AI teams in 2018, extending that practice beyond app interfaces.

Its AI development work combines testing data availability and user interactions with engineering for reliability and scale. Penny, built for Bancontact Company’s customer-support team, illustrates how that work fits into existing operations. Incoming questions enter Jira, where the assistant categorizes tickets and proposes personalized replies using prepared templates. Staff review the responses before they reach customers. Integration with Jira, Confluence and the client’s APIs puts the assistant inside the support workflow, with human review retained as part of the system.
