Khan Academy

Khan Academy is an education nonprofit offering free videos, articles, and mastery-based practice for students and teachers. Its courses span mathematics, science, humanities, and computer science, while Khan Academy Kids provides early learning activities for ages 2–8. Khanmigo adds AI tutoring and teaching assistance; Writing Coach gives students feedback throughout the writing process and lets educators see how their work develops. Teachers can assign lessons and practice, monitor skill mastery, and use the Khanmigo Assistant to find content through natural-language requests.

Founder and CEO Sal Khan leads the organization. Its learning approach centers on demonstrated proficiency: students answer questions in exercises, quizzes, and tests to establish their skill levels, with immediate feedback during practice. Khan Academy also publishes open-source educational software, including KaTeX for rendering mathematics on the web and Perseus for editing and rendering exercise questions.

Khan Academy Districts combines educational content with rostering, district dashboards, educator training, and implementation support. For the 2024–25 school year, the organization reported nearly 1.5 million licensed learners across 795 U.S. districts and 104.9 million yearly active learners overall, defined as people who used the platform for any amount of time during that school year.
