Venture capital for science and technology
Lux Capital
Lux Capital is a venture capital firm that funds founders building businesses across physical, computational and life sciences, including AI, biotechnology, robotics and defense. It provides investment capital and company-building support from early formation through later growth. Lux Labs, launched in 2024, helps scientists and technologists turn research into companies through intellectual-property negotiations, incorporation, financing, recruitment and early operating guidance.
Founded in 2000, Lux counts Peter Hébert and Josh Wolfe as partners and co-founders, with fellow co-founder Robert Paull serving as a venture partner. Lux Labs formalized company-formation work that the firm said it had already undertaken across more than 20 companies. Its Riskgaming initiative adds a different form of strategic exploration: engineers, executives, investors and policymakers assume roles with competing incentives in simulations of technology, business and geopolitical challenges. Game materials, participation and design work are free.
Lux reported $7 billion in assets under management in January 2026, and by May confirmed the close of Lux Ventures IX, a $1.5 billion investment fund. Its investment approach spans initial checks and substantial follow-on capital, with stated investments ranging from $100,000 to $100 million.
