Nubank

Nubank provides digital financial services for individuals and businesses, with products controlled through a mobile app. Its Brazilian offerings include accounts for payments and transfers, credit cards without annual fees, loans, and Caixinhas, which help customers organize savings around specific goals. Nu Empresas serves business customers, extending the product family beyond personal finances.

Founded in São Paulo in 2013 by David Vélez, Cristina Junqueira and Edward Wible, Nubank remains led by Vélez as CEO. Its technical research includes nuFormer, a transformer approach that learns representations of customer behavior from transaction data containing both text and structured attributes. It combines those learned representations with existing tabular features; experiments on Nubank recommendation tasks found improvements without adding new data sources.

By Q2 2026, the company reported 139 million customers across Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, with an activity rate of 83.5%.
