Omnara

Omnara builds an open-source agent control plane for developers creating internal tools and customer-facing AI products. Its API manages agent execution and state while developers choose models, tools, machines, and user interfaces. Teams can also interact with agents through a dashboard or Slack. Released as open-source software in 2026, the control plane extends Omnara beyond its earlier product for accessing Claude Code sessions across terminal, web, and mobile.

Founded in 2025 by CEO Ishaan Sehgal and CTO Kartik Sarangmath, Omnara separates an agent’s lifetime from the machines executing its work. Its architecture stores durable state in Postgres and uses temporary workers to advance agents when messages or tool results arrive. Execution machines connect separately as tools. This lets agents recover from worker failures without tying their history to a continuously running process; it does not automatically migrate local files or running processes.

Customers can use Omnara Cloud or self-host the platform, bring compatible model endpoints and API keys, and connect laptops, virtual machines, or supported sandbox providers. Self-hosted users can query agent history in Postgres for analytics, evaluations, and training datasets. In 2026, the company reported 20,000+ developers building with its coding-agent product, a milestone preceding the control plane’s open-source release.
