AI coding agents and developer tools
OpenCode
OpenCode builds an open source AI coding agent that helps developers write code in their terminal, IDE or desktop app. It supports 75+ model providers, including local models, and lets developers run multiple agents on the same project. Its model services include Zen, a curated selection tested for coding agents, and OpenCode Go, a subscription that also works with other agents. Developers can choose models within the same coding interface, while teams can embed OpenCode’s agent server separately from its user interface.
OpenCode is built by Anomaly, founded by Jay V, its current CEO, and Frank Wang, with Dax joining as the third cofounder after YC. The company incorporated in 2010 and participated in Y Combinator’s Winter 2021 batch before launching OpenCode in 2025. Its engineering history includes SST and OpenNext, an open source adapter that transforms Next.js build output for serverless deployment on AWS. The team also created Models.dev, a contributable database of models and providers that supports OpenCode’s approach to model choice.
In August 2026, OpenCode reported more than 16 million monthly developers. Its business combines model inference and subscriptions: in July 2026, the company reported approximately 160,000 monthly subscribers, contributing about $18 million in annualized revenue run rate. Separately, June inference revenue annualized to $31–33 million.
