Cybersecurity and enterprise security platforms

Palo Alto Networks

Palo Alto Networks provides cybersecurity products for enterprises and governments across networks, cloud environments, AI and identity. Its portfolio includes hardware and software firewalls, Prisma SASE for secure access, Cortex for cloud security and security operations, and Unit 42 threat intelligence. The company also offers incident response services. Strata Cloud Manager lets administrators manage firewalls and Prisma Access deployments through one interface, while subscriptions enable additional firewall features and cloud-delivered protections.

Chairman and CEO Nikesh Arora joined the company in 2018. Its engineering approach includes App-ID, which identifies applications from network traffic using protocol decoders, transaction characteristics, heuristics and decryption, rather than relying exclusively on ports. This lets administrators write application-specific access policies. The related User-ID capability adds users and groups to policy rules, connecting network controls to the people using applications.

The company reported more than 70,000 customers in February 2026. Its completed acquisition of CyberArk in February 2026 expanded identity security across human, machine and AI identities, with acquisition-accounting purchase consideration of $21.1 billion. At closing, CyberArk remained available as a standalone platform while integration proceeded, adding privileged-access controls to Palo Alto Networks’ broader security portfolio.
