API development and collaboration
Postman
Postman provides a platform for developers and enterprises to design, test, document, distribute and monitor APIs. Its Postman API Platform combines an API client, mock servers, shared workspaces, automated testing and governance controls so teams can collaborate throughout development. Its AI capabilities build on this foundation: the API Catalog records APIs and services, while Postman’s AI Engineer operates on a Context Graph above that catalog. Its broader Agent Stack includes tools for access management, API gateways and agent operations.
Founded in 2014 by Abhinav Asthana, Ankit Sobti and Abhijit Kane, Postman grew from Asthana’s HTTP client for Chrome, built to address API testing and debugging difficulties. Asthana remains CEO. A lasting engineering contribution is the Postman Collection Format: a portable JSON representation that lets developers share API requests, documentation and tests together. Newman executes these collections from the command line, extending the same workflows into build systems, continuous integration and monitoring.
In 2026, the company reported 40 million-plus developers and 500,000-plus organizations using Postman. It acquired Fern that year, adding API documentation and SDK generation tooling while retaining Fern’s product and brand. Its financing milestones include a $225 million Series D closed in 2021 at a $5.6 billion valuation.

Declarative UI assembles approved components from model-generated descriptors; runtime generation lets models produce frontend code directly. Casas presents sandboxing and containment as prerequisites for distributing those generated interfaces.
