Sourcegraph/Amp

Sourcegraph builds enterprise code search and code understanding tools; Amp develops an AI coding agent and development environment. Sourcegraph helps developers navigate large codebases, while Deep Search uses agents to search and aggregate context across repositories. It supports cloud and self-hosted environments. Amp’s Orbs run coding agents on remote machines controlled through the web, phone or CLI. Developers can share application previews, collaborate with teammates, schedule work and have agents exchange messages and files.

Founded in 2013 by Quinn Slack and Beyang Liu, Sourcegraph announced its separation from Amp into independent companies in December 2025. Dan Adler became Sourcegraph CEO; Slack leads Amp as CEO, with Liu and other former Sourcegraph teammates among its co-founders. Sourcegraph’s engineering contributions include SCIP, introduced in 2022: a Protobuf code-indexing format with readable symbol identifiers that supports navigation to definitions and references.

Sourcegraph’s enterprise adoption included Amazon, Uber and Lyft as customers in 2021, when Andreessen Horowitz’s Growth Fund led its Series D. Its technical infrastructure also operated at scale: in 2022, the company reported precise code navigation enabled on more than 45,000 repositories on sourcegraph.com. Amp stated that it was profitable when announcing its separation in December 2025, without disclosing a revenue or profit figure.
