Telemetrak

Telemetrak develops hardware and software for asset tracking and tool management, with applications in logistics and military maintenance. Its tracking systems combine sensors and AI to monitor cargo presence, environmental conditions and events such as container doors opening or walls being cut. In a 2025 government award abstract, the company reported that its commercial solution was already in use in civilian logistics.

Co-founder Bjorn-Erik Eklund, also known as Erik Eklund, leads the Oakland company as CEO. Its engineering includes kinetic energy harvesting for trackers on trailers without electrical power. A 2023 research proposal describes this technology as enabling tracking without battery changes, recharging or an external power supply, and proposes adapting it for Air Force aerospace ground equipment trailers.

Federal research contracts support its military development work. As of August 2026, its SBIR portfolio recorded $8.26 million in R&D awards, with a first award in 2021. A 2025 USAF Phase II award allocated $1.25 million to a proposed tool-room self-checkout system combining optical and RFID scanning. The project adapts existing products for maintainers checking out frequently used tools; it does not propose replacing visual inspections when tools are returned.
