Consumer dating and social discovery

Tinder

Tinder operates a dating app where singles browse profiles, express interest by swiping, and message after a mutual match. Its Plus, Gold and Platinum subscriptions offer progressively more discovery and visibility controls: Plus includes unlimited Likes and Passport for connecting in other locations; Gold reveals who already likes you; Platinum adds prioritized Likes. Chemistry uses questionnaires and optional camera-roll insights to personalize recommendations, with parts expanding into the United States and Canada in 2026.

Launched in 2012, Tinder’s co-founders include Sean Rad, Justin Mateen, Jonathan Badeen and Whitney Wolfe. Spencer Rascoff now serves as CEO of both Tinder and Match Group. Rad and Badeen modeled the original profile stack on a deck of cards, shaping its swipe interaction. Tinder’s engineering work includes Nodes, a modular mobile application framework that separates business logic, navigation and presentation, using reactive data streams to distribute state across features owned by different teams.

Tinder is part of Match Group’s dating-service portfolio. In 2026, the company reported more than 630 million cumulative downloads and 100 billion cumulative matches since launch, serving over 185 countries and more than 60 languages. Its Events feature extends discovery into local activities where singles can meet offline; by August 2026, it had expanded beyond its Los Angeles pilot into nine additional U.S. and European cities.
