Consumer AI applications and privacy-focused inference

Venice AI

Venice AI provides a consumer application and developer API for using AI models across text, images, video and audio. Its app makes generative AI accessible to nontechnical users for conversation, research, document analysis and creative work. Its agentic chat breaks requests into steps and chooses tools as it works: it can search for information, generate an image and turn that image into video within one conversation. Classic chat gives users direct control over which model handles a task.

Erik Voorhees founded Venice in 2024, applying ideas from cryptocurrency infrastructure to an accessible AI product: client-side storage, encrypted communication and separation between users’ identities and inference providers. Its launch vision combined privacy with user choice over models and their behavior, including editable system prompts. In July 2026, Venice reported 3.5 million registered users.

Venice’s defining engineering choice is to keep conversation history on the user’s device and relay inference requests without storing their content. Its privacy modes distinguish protections that can otherwise sound interchangeable. Anonymous mode hides identity from the model provider, which may still retain prompts; Private mode relies on contractual zero-retention commitments. Supported models can also run in hardware-isolated trusted execution environments with remote attestation. End-to-end encryption goes further by encrypting prompts on the user’s device until they reach a verified enclave, at the cost of features such as web search and memory.
