API management, integration, and identity software
WSO2 builds software for connecting applications, managing APIs and controlling access to digital services. Its products serve enterprise developers and organizations including corporations, universities and governments. WSO2 API Manager lets developers design, publish and manage APIs, while product managers can combine APIs into products. It supports cloud, on-premises and hybrid deployments, with support for REST, GraphQL and AsyncAPI. Micro Integrator connects applications, services and data through a low-code graphical design experience, including integrations between legacy systems and newer microservices.
WSO2 Identity Server handles identity and access management for consumer applications, employees, business customers and API access. Organizations can deploy it on premises or in the cloud; Asgardeo provides a hosted identity service built on the same technology core. Together, these products address both how services connect and how users gain access, while giving teams choices about where the software runs.
WSO2’s API Platform extends this work to AI agents. Its API Designer can generate Model Context Protocol (MCP) code from API specifications, and its servers support MCP integration with agents. An Envoy-based gateway secures and routes traffic, with authentication, rate limiting and analytics implemented as policies. API and gateway configurations are managed as code, giving teams a GitOps approach to operating the platform. In May 2024, EQT Private Capital Asia agreed to acquire WSO2 from its existing shareholders.
