Andrew Norrish represented Sourcegraph as its director of field engineering at AI Engineer NYC. He works with engineering teams on a problem that gets harder as they add repositories: the code a person needs to understand a change may live far from the file being edited.

Norrish connects that problem to the growing volume of AI-generated code. A reviewer needs to find callers and dependencies before approving a patch. An SRE investigating a failure needs much of the same context after deployment. He shows how code search and a code graph can help both people follow a change across service boundaries.
