Harneet Kaur is the founder and CEO of Axim Intelligence, which is developing AI software for distressed credit and restructuring. Before becoming a founder, she spent five years in public equities and four in distressed credit and special situations.

In her equity-research roles at Morgan Stanley and Wolfe Research, Kaur advised hedge funds on company and market developments and published fundamental research. She later became a vice president at Marblegate Asset Management, where she served as a lead analyst on distressed-debt investments, complex restructurings and special situations. Her work there also encompassed operational turnarounds and board governance.

Her software work addresses both the preparation of financial data and the context investors need to interpret it:

  • Comparing financial statements across filings. Kaur’s SEC EDGAR Financial Statement Puller retrieves up to three years of annual and quarterly filings and organizes the income statement, balance sheet and cash-flow statement in an Excel workbook. When a company changes the wording of a financial measure between reports, the tool combines text matching with a hand-maintained table of equivalent labels to keep that measure on the same row. It preserves the figures and units as reported, including cases where annual statements use thousands and quarterly statements use millions.
  • Keeping a credit analysis current. Axim Credit Analyst, currently in private beta, brings filings, financial statements, agreements and research for a single debt investment into a persistent workspace. Investors can build an analysis, ask questions and explore scenarios within the context of that investment. Its design emphasizes analytical provenance: tracing how facts connect to the reasoning behind an answer. Other priorities include distinguishing public from private information and tracking changes in the credit situation so the analysis can evolve with it. Axim also plans DistressedBench, a framework for evaluating distressed-credit reasoning.

Kaur holds an MBA in finance from Wharton and a BS in finance and economics from NYU Stern. She co-chairs the Wharton Club of New York’s Restructuring & Distressed Investing Group with David Rubin. The group connects alumni across investing, restructuring advisory, law and operating leadership, with a focus on credit, special situations, restructurings and turnarounds.
