Jeff Smith

Jeff Smith builds tools for people who use Oracle databases. A product management architect, he draws on decades of database-tool experience to explain what changes when an AI agent becomes one of those users. He writes ThatJeffSmith, a long-running practical guide to Oracle developer tools, and publishes tutorials on SQL Developer and SQLcl, Oracle’s command-line SQL interface.

Smith favors giving an agent access to reports that a team has already defined. That preserves the meaning of a business question while allowing the user to ask for it in ordinary language. He also places row-level access decisions in the database, before results enter the agent’s context.
