Data integration and infrastructure for AI agents

Airbyte

Airbyte builds data integration infrastructure for data teams and developers building AI applications. Its replication platform moves data from business systems into warehouses, lakes and other storage destinations for analytics. Businesses including Rakuten, 1Password and Nebius use it for production workloads. Airbyte also offers hybrid deployment: the data plane runs in the customer’s environment, while Airbyte manages the control plane for orchestration and monitoring.

Founded in 2020 by Michel Tricot and Jean Lafleur, Airbyte grew from Tricot’s experience building data connectors at LiveRamp and the founders’ discovery that data teams still maintained custom integration scripts alongside commercial tools. They shipped an open-source platform with six connectors in 2020, letting community contributors build and maintain integrations beyond those a single vendor would prioritize. That approach remains central to Airbyte’s connector ecosystem; its data replication engine and open-source offering continue alongside its newer agent products.

Launched in May 2026, Airbyte Agents extends that foundation to business-data access for AI agents. Its Context Store replicates and indexes selected records, such as customers, deals and support tickets, so agents can discover relevant information across systems before making live API calls. Search runs against those indexed copies; separate connector operations fetch current records and write changes back to source systems. This lets an agent find relevant business context first, then retrieve fresh state when an action requires it. Engineering teams can build against the platform through a Python SDK, while MCP and command-line interfaces provide access from compatible AI clients, scripts and agent harnesses.
