Venture capital for technical founders
Amplify Partners invests in technical founders building infrastructure, developer tools, AI and digital biology companies. It leads financing from a company’s first round through Series A and supports founders through IPO. Its Build Team works with founders on sales, marketing and recruiting, complementing investment capital with practical company-building support. Early investments include Datadog, Fastly, dbt, Temporal and Runway.
Sunil Dhaliwal founded Amplify in 2012 and remains a general partner. He subsequently recruited Mike Dauber, also a general partner, whom he describes as effectively his co-founder. The firm’s approach centers on engineers and researchers solving problems they understand firsthand. Alongside investing, Amplify produces industry research: its 2026 AI Engineering Report, developed with Notion and Vercel, surveyed more than 1,000 engineers about model selection, costs, tooling and agent permissions.
In 2025, Amplify announced $900 million in new fund capital: $400 million for Fund 6’s initial investments, $300 million for Fund 6 Select to support existing portfolio companies, and $200 million for Amplify Bio, its first dedicated digital biology fund. The biology fund extends an investment history that includes backing Recursion in 2016. Amplify also reported a community of more than 150 technical founders in 2025.

The survey presentations connect model and modality choices with production practices, from RAG and fine-tuning to prompt management and token-cost monitoring.
The 2026 report highlights practitioners’ reliance on human approvals and permission gating when operating agents.
Hosted by Barr Yaron, Frontier Feud combines team competition with a shared discussion of coding agents, on-device deployment, factuality, and future model architectures.
