AI agent infrastructure
E2B provides cloud sandboxes where developers give AI agents computing environments to execute code, analyze data and run applications. Its Desktop Sandbox adds a graphical cloud computer, letting agents interact with web applications beyond APIs and code. The platform works with any language model and supports deployment in customers’ clouds or on premises. Users include Groq for code execution, Manus for virtual computers, and Hugging Face for AI research.
Founded in 2023 by Vasek Mlejnsky, CEO, and Tomas Valenta, CTO, E2B grew from the founders’ earlier developer tool, Devbook. Its sandbox runtime uses Firecracker microVMs to isolate untrusted workflows, while customizable environments let developers install packages and system libraries. Its engineering publications explain practical scaling techniques, including using OverlayFS to share a read-only root filesystem across Firecracker instances while keeping changes in separate writable layers, reducing duplicated storage.
By August 2026, the company reported more than one billion cumulative sandbox launches and over seven million monthly downloads. E2B raised a $21 million Series A led by Insight Partners in 2025. In May 2026, it reported more than $37 million in total funding since founding.
