Form3

Form3 provides account-to-account payments infrastructure for banks and fintechs. Its unified API connects institutions to payment schemes in the UK, Europe and US, handling scheme-specific message formats and integration details so customers can send and receive money through one integration. Services include payment orchestration and Verification of Payee, which helps check recipient accounts and reduce misdirected payments. Alongside its managed cloud platform, Form3 offers the self-hosted Payments Resilience Platform.

Michael Mueller established Form3 in 2016; co-founder Mike Walters succeeded him as CEO in 2023, with Mueller becoming Executive Chair. Its engineering approach addresses payment consistency and dependence on individual cloud providers. Form3 developed a multicloud architecture using Kubernetes, NATS JetStream and CockroachDB, with database writes requiring agreement across two of three clouds. This design supports continued writes during a single-cloud outage while giving engineers one version of their services to maintain.

In 2025, the company reported processing over 4 billion transactions annually for banks including Nationwide, Lloyds and Barclays. It completed a $60 million Series C extension in 2024, then announced strategic investment from Nationwide and a debt facility from BlackRock-managed funds and accounts in 2025. Nationwide also extended its Faster Payments managed-service partnership through 2032 and signed on as an early adopter of the self-hosted platform.
