Google builds search, AI and cloud products for consumers, developers and businesses. Its Gemini models serve applications through APIs, while Gemini Enterprise lets organizations build agents, automate processes and connect enterprise systems. Gemma offers smaller models that run on local devices. Google’s YouTube platform lets creators upload and share videos across long-form content, Shorts, livestreams, music and podcasts. Ask YouTube uses Gemini to answer questions about videos, summarize their contents and navigate to relevant moments.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google in 1998, building on a search engine that used links to assess page importance. Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim founded YouTube in 2005; Google acquired it in 2006. Sundar Pichai leads Google and Alphabet, while Neal Mohan leads YouTube. Google’s research contributions include the 2017 Transformer architecture, whose self-attention mechanism models relationships between words regardless of position and supports parallel computation.

Google combines model development with computing infrastructure: its TPUs power Gemini training and serving, alongside NVIDIA GPUs in its compute offerings. In July 2026, Google reported more than 9 million developers building monthly with its models across APIs and key developer products. YouTube combines advertising and subscriptions, generating company-reported 2025 revenue above $60 billion. Its creator economy also supports earnings through shopping, brand deals and fan funding.
