API, event, and AI agent management

Gravitee

Gravitee builds infrastructure for enterprise teams to expose software services and control how applications and AI agents access them. Its API Gateway applies security, traffic, and transformation policies across protocols such as REST, GraphQL, and gRPC, with reusable policy groups that reduce per-service configuration. Founded in 2015, Gravitee began with an open-source API gateway built by developers in Lille, France, then extended its platform to events and AI agents. Its free Community Edition remains Apache 2.0 licensed, and organizations can run the platform in their own cloud or on-premises environments.

That progression shapes Gravitee Gamma, introduced in June 2026 to bring APIs, events, agents, and authorization together. Its AI Gateway gives platform and security teams a shared enforcement layer for model requests, Model Context Protocol tool calls, and agent-to-agent delegation. Policies can restrict particular tools and resources before requests reach downstream services. Connected OpenTelemetry traces follow the workflow across those interactions, helping teams understand permissions, tool use, and costs. MCP Studio assembles selected APIs, tools, and events into governed toolkits, letting enterprises make existing services available to agents without rewriting their backends.

Customers use this infrastructure for operational systems as well as AI. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution uses Gravitee to govern APIs supporting its crew-callout and station-readiness application. Those services supply crew availability, lifeboat status, and weather information for launch decisions, while restricting access to sensitive personnel and operational data.
