Ionic Commerce
Ionic Commerce developed tools for adding shopping capabilities to AI assistants. Its Python SDK exposed product search, while Ionic Langchain wrapped the SDK as a tool for custom LangChain agents. The integration was designed to let users request product recommendations and purchase products through an agent’s chat interface.
The engineering approach connected agent applications to a hosted commerce API. The Python SDK documented API-key authentication and used the requests library, with support for custom sessions to configure timeouts, proxies, cookies and headers. Developers could also pass a configured SDK instance into the LangChain integration.
Ionic distributed its LangChain integration as an installable Python package, with releases documented in 2023 and 2024. The SDK documentation described that library as beta and recommended pinning a package version because releases could introduce breaking changes. These published integrations establish its historical developer offering, without establishing present service availability.
