Financial connectivity and debt repayment infrastructure

Method Financial

Method Financial provides APIs that let lenders, fintechs and financial institutions connect consumer debt accounts, retrieve current liability data and make repayments. Its infrastructure supports refinancing, balance transfers and personal financial management. Card Connect links credit cards to services such as Bilt Rewards, while Payment Instruments gives verified liability accounts dedicated routing and account numbers so lenders can pay creditors through their existing ACH or wire rails and track payment status.

Founded in 2021, Method grew out of the team's experience building GradJoy, a student-loan repayment application that struggled with fragmented account data and manual payments. Its co-founders are CEO Jose Bethancourt, CTO Marco del Carmen and COO Mit Shah. Method combines identity-based authentication and consumer consent with integrated payment rails: users can connect liability accounts without supplying individual account usernames and passwords, and participating apps can both access debt information and initiate payments.

In August 2026, the company reported a network spanning more than 55 million end users, 350 million accounts and over 20,000 financial institutions, with more than $5 billion in payments processed. Method raised a $41.5 million Series B led by Emergence Capital in 2025, bringing total funding to $60 million.
