Media, publishing and information services
News Corp
News Corp publishes journalism and books and provides professional information and digital real estate services. Dow Jones, including The Wall Street Journal, serves news readers and business professionals; HarperCollins publishes books, while Move’s Realtor.com lets people browse property listings. Its businesses span consumer subscriptions, professional information, advertising and content licensing, with principal operations in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The enterprise grew from Australian newspaper interests Rupert Murdoch inherited in 1952; today’s News Corp emerged from the 2013 separation from 21st Century Fox. Robert Thomson is Chief Executive and Lachlan Murdoch is Chair. Following completed family share transfers and purchases in September 2025, LGC Holdco held approximately 33.2% of News Corp’s Class B shares. Subject to limited exceptions, voting decisions for that holding rest with a managing director appointed and replaceable by Lachlan Murdoch.
News Corp completed its sale of Foxtel to DAZN in 2025, following an agreement valuing Foxtel at A$3.4 billion enterprise value, and received approximately 6% of DAZN at closing. Its continuing portfolio combines publishing with digital services: the company reported over 6.7 million average subscriptions to Dow Jones news products in fiscal Q4 2026. It also has content relationships with OpenAI and Meta, extending its publishing business into AI.
