You.com provides Web Search APIs and enterprise AI applications that connect models to live web information and private company data. Developers can build agents with web and news search, research synthesis, image search and private retrieval; enterprises can commission applications tailored to their workflows. Its model-agnostic infrastructure supports answers with verifiable citations. Recursive Superintelligence is a separate company developing automated AI research, with Richard Socher serving as CEO of both businesses.

You.com incorporated in 2020, with co-founders Richard Socher and Bryan McCann. Saahil Jain became CTO in 2026; McCann remains a board member and adviser. Recursive publicly launched in 2026, with Socher joined as co-founder by Tim Rocktäschel, Tim Shi, Josh Tobin, Caiming Xiong, Jeff Clune, Yuandong Tian and Alexey Dosovitskiy. Recursive’s system proposes ideas, implements experiments, validates results and uses findings to guide subsequent experiments. Its initial work targets model training and GPU kernel optimization, retaining experimental context and checking for reward hacking—benchmark exploits that can masquerade as progress.

In 2025, You.com reported processing over 1 billion API queries monthly, naming DuckDuckGo, Windsurf and Harvey as customers. It raised $100 million in Series C funding at a $1.5 billion valuation that year. Recursive emerged from stealth in 2026 at a $4.65 billion valuation and signed a multiyear $410 million AWS agreement in July to run its automated research system—a compute commitment.
