Alternative investment technology for financial advisors

CAIS

CAIS builds technology that helps independent financial advisors access and manage alternative investments for their clients, while giving asset managers a distribution channel into independent wealth management. Founded by Matt Brown in 2009, the company addresses both access to investment products and the operational work involved in using them. Its CAIS Marketplace offers investments across private equity, private debt, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds, alongside structured notes. Advisors can filter products by investment objective, asset class and investor eligibility, then examine terms and supporting research.

The platform connects product selection with execution and ongoing administration. Digitized subscription documents and integrations with custodians and reporting providers help advisors process investments and monitor holdings. CAIS Solutions extends those workflows to registered investment advisers and independent broker-dealers managing funds they sourced elsewhere. Education and investment review sit alongside the transaction tools: CAIS IQ provides on-demand learning for advisors, and Mercer supplies independent research and ratings for nearly all Marketplace products.

CAIS also builds tools to help advisors interpret investment information. Its CAISey research agent gives advisors conversational access to platform data and insights, with an integration into Anthropic’s Claude. CAIS Compass lets users examine how alternative investments could affect portfolio characteristics, including risk and return, and offers an optional AI-generated summary. These tools serve an established advisor network: in July 2026, CAIS reported serving more than 2,500 wealth management firms supporting over 65,000 financial advisors.
