Personal finance and AI-powered financial guidance

Credit Karma

Credit Karma is an Intuit company that helps consumers understand their credit, manage their money and find financial products. Founded in 2007 by Kenneth Lin, Nichole Mustard and Ryan Graciano, it began with free access to credit information and expanded into personalized financial guidance. Its Approval Odds feature compares a member’s credit profile with those of members approved for a product, or checks lender criteria, to help narrow choices without guaranteeing approval. For credit cards and personal loans, Credit Karma earns compensation when members are approved.

The platform has grown beyond credit scores into everyday money management. Mint’s team joined Credit Karma in 2022; its 2023 transition announcement described spending, transaction, cash-flow and net-worth tracking alongside personalized recommendations. In May 2026, Credit Karma opened membership to people without a credit score. Its Credit Spark tool turns existing on-time utility and phone bill payments into credit history, giving people starting their credit journey a way to build a record without taking on new debt.

Its Credit Karma Home Loans refinancing service shows how the company combines financial data with AI and human assistance. Launched in March 2026 with Better Mortgage, it analyzes market rates, member data and eligibility signals to identify potential savings. Better’s Tinman AI platform supports eligibility checks, document collection and underwriting, while human experts provide guidance. The service extends Credit Karma’s role from helping consumers compare financial products into supporting the refinancing process itself.
