Payments and agentic commerce
PayPal
PayPal’s supplied developer documentation describes services for commerce through AI shopping assistants. Agent Ready connects Braintree merchants to payment flows in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini. Its integration paths use delegated payment tokens for ChatGPT and a Google Pay payment handler for Google’s AI shopping surfaces.
Store Sync extends this work to product discovery, carts and order management. Merchants connect their catalogs and commerce APIs so assistants can help customers complete purchases within conversational interfaces, with orders reaching existing management systems. The supplied documentation limits eligibility to physical goods sold to US customers in USD; digital goods and subscriptions are excluded.
PayPal is also credited in the conference recording “Your Agent Just Authorized What?!” with Jay Mok and Ben Coumes. The presentation examines human consent, transaction scope and later proof across different levels of risk. It describes advance approval carrying payment constraints and proposes selective disclosure for unfamiliar counterparties. The recording’s specific approval-token payload and shipping timeline are not independently corroborated by the supplied official documentation.
