Teammates

Teammates built a platform for companies to design and manage AI virtual colleagues that handled recurring work inside existing business tools. Its agents worked through Slack, Teams, email and applications such as Salesforce and GitHub. Users assigned responsibilities and gave feedback, while agents planned workflows and responded to alerts, schedules or colleagues’ requests. Internal uses included code reviews, changelog writing, social media and SQL analysis.

Founded in 2024 by Ben Stein and Kenneth Hoxworth, respectively CEO and CTO at its 2025 launch, Teammates was backed by Matrix Partners. Both founders had previously held product leadership roles at Twilio. Its engineering team also used an agent running in staging to exercise webhook processing, AI reasoning and Slack communication before production deployment. This made the company’s own agent a practical check on the integrations its product depended on.

By April 2026, the team had shut down Teammates and pivoted to SuperDuper. That successor subsequently entered an agreement for Life360 to acquire its team and technology. SuperDuper’s retirement notice scheduled its app shutdown for August 17, 2026, and stated that customer accounts and data would not transfer to Life360.
