Turn the program into a useful hiring shortlist

Ksenia Se returns to the stage after a day of conversations with speakers and attendees. Hiring keeps coming up: some speakers are recruiting while also considering their own next role. She proposes a small agent project that starts with the conference itself.

Have an agent collect the speakers and their companies from the program. Rank them yourself according to whose work interested you and whom you would like to work with. Then let the agent search those companies’ careers pages, match positions to your experience, and collect the published compensation ranges.

The new information may change the ranking. Se treats that as a reasonable update rather than an embarrassment. While people are still at the conference, use what you learned to start a conversation with someone whose work you now understand. Keep the final step human: she explicitly discourages sending résumés automatically.

After thanking the sponsors, participants, and event team, Se introduces Michael Manapat of Rowspace and Jack McDonald of Apollo for the final keynote block.

7:47:20And then basically all of us and supporting partners and every company and every speaker who made it possible.

7:47:27Thank you, thank you, thank you.

7:47:30Now a couple of words how my day went.

7:47:33I spend the day talking to other speakers and participants,

7:47:38what I've noticed is that one of the strongest incentives

7:47:41to come to this conference is hiring,

7:47:45to the point that even some speakers are hiring and also looking for work.

7:47:53So I have a little idea for you about how to benefit the most

7:47:59from this amazing conference

7:48:00and make sure the financial part gets some thoughtful attention too.

7:48:06So I suggest you build an agent that takes the conference program

7:48:12and makes a list of all the speakers and their companies.

7:48:16Then you rank them yourself based on whose work and talk you found the most interesting

7:48:21and who you would actually like to work with.

7:48:25The next step is to send your agent to those companies' careers pages, right?

7:48:29and find open positions to match them to your experience

7:48:33and collect the published compensation ranges.

7:48:38Then look at your ranking again.

7:48:42if the salary changes your mind and changes your ranking, that's fine.

7:48:46You are updating your beliefs based on the evidence.

7:48:50So now, while you're still here,

7:48:53I encourage you to go and find the people you would really like to work with or meet

7:48:58and talk to them.

7:49:00Because you've heard their talks

7:49:01and you know something about their work.

7:49:03And that would be just such a good conversation starter.

7:49:08And please, don't make your agents

7:49:12send out your resume automatically.

7:49:14That's basically bad karma now.

7:49:20So, this is the project for you

7:49:22for the rest of the day or for the trip home.

7:49:25Now let's hear how AI is being put to work at Apollo.

7:49:30Please help me welcome Michael Manipat, co-founder of Rowspace and Jack McDonald,

7:49:37principal at Apollo Global Management and CEO of Reading Ridge,

7:49:41for AI in practice, an inside look at Apollo's approach.

7:49:46Clap, clap, clap.
